I will see you again, ’ Hades promised. ‘I will prepare a room for you at the palace in case you do not survive. Perhaps your chambers would look good decorated with the skulls of monks.’ ‘Now I can’t tell if you’re joking.’ Hades’s eyes glittered as his form began to fade. ‘Then perhaps we are alike in some important ways.’ The god vanished. About This Quote

The story of Hades and Persephone, the Greek myth about the beautiful goddess who was forced to live on the underworld's gloomy plain with her husband Hades, is one of the most popular myths in the world. The myth opens with Persephone, daughter of Zeus and queen of the underworld, and her husband Hades. As a symbol of marriage and the union between heaven and earth, these two were destined to be together. But one day, after many years of marriage, Zeus decided to send his daughter away from him.

But how would he do it? He had no choice but to send his daughter to live with her husband, Hades. The goddess didn't know this at first but her mother Demeter saw through her husband's scheme and found Persephone's vessel and took her away from him. News of this began to spread around Greece and soon people began to mourn for Persephone.

Zeus then decided that he needed to find out what happened and dispatched Hermes on a mission to find out what happened on Earth. On his mission he saw how people were mourning for Persephone so he decided to go down there as well. He found them mourning for her so he asked why they were doing so. Demeter tried explaining that Persephone was gone and she will never return but Zeus didn't believe her so he brought her back with him back up to Mount Olympus.

When she returned everyone was happy that she was safe but then they found out that Hades had deceived them all by holding onto his wife's soul in a box outside of their palace window for a whole year. Thus making him look like a hero instead of a villain because if he hadn't done that then their daughter would never have been able to return home from Earth with Zeus's permission after being sent away from him by mistake earlier.
